Questions
about going solar
DOES SOLAR MAKE SENSE IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST?
Oregon receives more direct sunlight than Germany, the worldwide leader in solar energy adoption. Despite our overcast winters, our summers are sunny and relatively cool which make optimum conditions for solar production. This increases the efficiency and lifespan of your system, accelerating its Return on investment (ROI).
HOW DOES NET METERING WORK?
Oregon has fantastic net metering policy. With net metering, homeowners are able to export their unused solar energy to the grid during the summer months.
This builds a bank of energy credits that can be drawn from in the winter months. More than half of the systems we install are able to offset 100% of the customer's annual energy consumption.
WILL MY POWER STILL WORK IF THE GRID GOES DOWN?
Think of a solar system as you would any other household appliance, it needs a power source in order to run. Solar will stop producing energy when the grid goes down unless you have battery backup. Batteries keep power on in your home, protecting you and your family during extreme weather and grid failure.
IS SOLAR COST EFFECTIVE?
The same principal of owning a home vs. renting a home applies to power. Don't rent your energy, own your energy! Solar loan payments are usually comparable to your power bill and are often paid off in 15 years or less. Protect yourself from rising utility rates by locking in your cost of energy for the next 25+ years.
